A year of loss, confusion, failed attempts, floundering, setbacks, and frustration. I don’t feel great about this year — it felt like treadmill, a lot of work but no distance — but I still did a lot of fun stuff and made some cool stuff. Hopefully the work pays off soon?
Here’s some of what I’m proud of this year:
Judith Drugan: Lesbian Exorcist – Chapter 1
This one is bittersweet. I had intended this to be a regular show and just didn’t have the wherewithal to get ‘er done. Still a fun show and I’m still plugging away at the story. Itching for another show — soon, maybe.
Nickel Script Reading Challenge
This was a fun event!
I Kill Myself: The Comic! Started
I got an ArtsNL grant to adapt IKM into a comic. It’s still not done, but it’s more done than it was when I started. This project is draining and I’m not sure how much demand there is for it, but I can’t seem to kick it. Gonna make a push to publish it this year, tho.
NL Sketch Fest
I got to host and perform in this year’s festival! A treat.
Itty Bitty Skitty Committee
I did sketches and improv with these awesome weirdos, including at Team Building Exercise at NL Sketch Fest and Q2: Pride an Acquisitions on our own! Twas fun. Hoping for more next year!
I started a podcast (vidcast? show?) about how to get better at making shows. I guess I got better at making podcasts? Close enough. This was a challenge, but I think I’m getting better at making them. Now to get better at promoting them lol!
In 2025, I started sharing NL comedy news via my newsletter. I started in April and I sent out a newsletter 9 out of the 10 months, which is pretty good, for me
Autism Society Improv Class
This was a blast, very fun time!
Comics for the Nickel
I was honoured to make some comics for the Nickel Independent Film Festival this year.
First ever SJ Comic Arts Fest
Got to participate in this! A fun time, it was a kick in the butt and I’m excited for next year 🙂
Comedy Shows
Shows with Matt Wright, Ryan Dillon, Vicky Mullaley, Bree Parsons, a JFL showcase, and so many more!
Blogging
I started the year blogging on here a lot, with a goal of a post a week. I kept it up until around June, when it started sliding. I didn’t stop writing, I just moved it more to my newsletter and videos. I’m proud of what I started, it helped me structure my writing, develop a structure and accountability, and brought some ideas into focus.
Final Thoughts
I’m stressed to fuck and not sure what to do next. A quick guide for myself:
In 2026, I need to:
Organize
Shape
Publish
Promote
DELIVER
I’m doing stuff on YouTube over here if you’re curious.
