About

Veronica Dymond

Writer, comedian, creative endeavourer.

I’m Vero, an award-winning writer, comedian, and producer from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

I won an Arts & Letters Award in 2012 for my short story, Au nom du pere and started doing stand-up a year later. I was a finalist in Last Comic Standing NL two years in a row, and I have headlined the Braxton Comedy Festival and performed with Canadian comedy legends like Mary Walsh and Shaun Majumder. In 2021, I recorded on the JFL Originals comedy album Infinity Plus Pizza and in 2023 I produced my first full-length play, “I Kill Myself: A Live Comedy Show.”

My writing has been featured on CBC.ca, Cracked.com, and Riddle Fence Magazine. I was a co-writer on the TV series “Casting Call” and my work has been in festivals across Canada, including Toronto Sketch Fest, the Women’s Work Festival, the St. John’s Shorts Festival, NL Sketch Fest, the Halifax Animation Festival, the ReelOUT Queer Film Festival, and the Charlottetown Film Festival. My newest short film, “Ghost Roommate,” is an Official Selection of the Nickel Independent Film Festival 2024.

I have produced over a dozen live and filmed projects. I have directed plays, films, animated shorts, sketches, and TV episodes. I also self-publish comics on my blog.
