So these past few weeks – ok, months – I have been trying to improve my mental health & work flow. The two are linked, more than I realized.
I need structure, but developing one for myself is a challenge. My friend gave me Atomic Habits and I have been trying some of the strategies it suggests, adjusting my daily routines to get improved results on goals. I had already been working on developing systems that work for me and there are some good tips for that; will see how they work. I have a lot of start-stop that drags me down — once I start, I’m pretty automated, so the question is, how to reduce the interruptions? Stay tuned!

Observation: I make my bed first thing, but I think it’s the wrong move. I should put on my exercise kit, then start working, including making my bed.

March Goal: Drafts of scenes 7-16 Get It Together, Dymond
Week 4 Goal: Improve work system
Day 1: GOAL – Didn’t make one! Oops! RESULT – Made a comic anyway! Rough but it’s a start
Day 2: GOAL – Do an art stream! See if that works. Also: Workshop prep. RESULT – I planned a stream for Friday and did workshop prep. Can still art today if I try.
Day 3: GOAL – Library visit PM. RESULT – Got sidelined by chores. Some big personal weights off my shoulders but not work in the strictest sense. But worthwhile I think. Tomorrow is work stream; hopefully I’ll do better.
Day 4: GOAL – Thursday writing stream. RESULT It worked! I drew in the morning, then did some research and wrote a short essay script. Had a v productive work day!
Day 5: GOAL – Art Stream, Marketing RESULT: Didn’t do the stream, did do the marketing.
Last week evaluation: ~60%
This Week Evaluation: 80% – room for improvement but it was a good week!
Note: Streaming half worked. Wonder why. Time? I split my focus on day 2, preferring to continue working on one task for longer vs changing tasks midway. Maybe I need to focus on one thing per morning/afternoon. Also, should announce? For accountability? Will experiment next week.
