Feb Week 2: Lump

Week 1 was a good start, will the trend continue? No!

Physical

Monthly Goal: 100%

Week 1 Exercise Goals: 200 skips/day

Grade: 57%

Bonus: Juggle 3 minutes with weighted juggling balls at least 4 times

Current: 3/4 – 75%

Notes: I became a lump on Wednesday! I did 100 skips in 2m20s (~.7/s), which is not super great, and then stopped midweek because I got tiiii~iiiiired. 200 may be too high a goal for me at this point.

Work

Project 1

February Goal: Drafts of scenes 1-7

Week 1 Goal: Draft scenes 3 & 4

Day 1: Snow day, but I work from home so it means nothing! Goal: Script 3. This was rough. I was not sure how to proceed and I procrastinated by cleaning out my inbox (under 700 unread emails!). I think I have a direction to go, so I’ll continue tomorrow and see what happens.

Day 2: Draft Scene 3 – Procrastinated by clearing out my email inbox some more. I only have 377 unread emails in my inbox! That’s so low, for me! But also, it’s not the work I should be doing. What’s the hold up? (It’s going to be haaaaaard.) That’s it, just a matter of climbing that small hill. It’s not that hard, Vero. You did it twice last week. You did it faster than you expected. (I guess I’m more distracted than I was last week?) Ok, so refocus. Turn the music off. Close out the unnecessary tabs and apps. Including this one. You watched your recording, that’s a good start. Now: Work. [This helped. But the work isn’t finished.]

Day 3: Draft 3 – Still didn’t do it, but redid the script. Calling it on Scene 3 for now; will return later. Later Vero will be mad at me probably.

Day 4: Script Scene 4 – Nope! Lump day!

Day 5: Script 4 Retry – I did some admin work but as for scripting? Nar. This is tough. Not sure what to do. My usual is “plough through.” I’ll take a break and hopefully plough through next week. I guess these two segments feel kind tender for me, and it’s hard to work on.

Evaluation: 65%

Note 1: Scripting is key! SO, be specific when adapting script (helps make drafting faster). How to be specific? Be more clear about what is happening in each panel & page.

Note 2: How to progress when it’s just not working? I’m going to come back to this segment later. This is the actual start of the story, the rest was fluff, and it’s personal and tough.

Project 2

February Goal: Plan next 3 shows

Week 1 Goals: Decide how to proceed

Day 1: Determine new model for shows

  • Quarterly model (next show – April)
  • Small online workshops in between?

Day 2: Determine implementation for new model

  • Still determining

Evaluation: 60%

Notes: After last week’s 0% score, I reassessed this month’s goal (“plan next 3 months of shows”) and determined it’s unrealistic for me to do a monthly show at this point, considering the demands of project 1. Scraping monthly model, looking at quarterly. Don’t feel great about pushing this one back so quickly BUT I have a chronic “take on too much” problem and I have to create realistic goals for myself. Judith is on hiatus until March!

Other

Streaming: Monday night stream was fun! Did not end the game but looks like next time I will. I’m liking the streaming, have plans to do an adventure game next but need to learn more technical stuff. Links to “A Dark Room”: One, Two, Three! And four coming next Monday!

Gratitudes: That I have a good enough back for shoveling, that I am from a family of survivors, that I have people to pick me up when I fall

Shout outs: MK Morris for being a work buddy who helps me take on the most boring of tasks and who does cool improv workshops and shows and all sorts of fun nonsense! You can follow her on Instagram or Facebook and probably other places!
